Antoaneta often uses images collected from newspapers,
magazines,
photographs, and other mass media sources as the starting point of her
works.
Such images change context when abstracted from the reality which they
had originally represented. The unrestricted juggling of these images
projects them into a new space, and alters the connections and
interrelationships between them. By crossing to a different level of
existence, and acquiring a new countenance, the images turn into a
kind of memory test, while questioning the objectivity and
authenticity of the original observation, and prompting a radical
reinterpretation |
